Same Pump, Different Reality

60 Minutes drops a trucking exposé and suddenly everyone’s acting like they just discovered corruption in trucking.

Let me save you some time:

This industry doesn’t run on transparency.

It runs on what you don’t question.

They’re talking about alleged “chameleon carriers” — new names, new DOTs, same operation.

Cool.

Now let’s talk about the part that’s happening in broad daylight:

You pull up to a pump.

Sign says $6.00.

You swipe your card and get told:

“Congrats driver… you got 5¢ off.”

You feel like you won.

Meanwhile, right next to you, same pump, same fuel, same moment…

I’m paying $1.00+ less per gallon.

Not a different stop.

Not a different day.

Not a coupon.

The actual price.

So let’s stop pretending this is complicated:

If the network price is lower

and drivers are shown a higher one

that gap doesn’t disappear.

Somebody is getting paid in that difference.

And it’s not the driver.

This isn’t about one company.

It’s about a system that depends on drivers not comparing numbers.

Because the second they do…

the whole story falls apart.

Receipts > narratives.
